Whatever

So… ever have one of those days when you just want to kick yourself?  You know, things are going wrong and you’ve no one to blame but yourself (no matter how badly you wish you could pin it on ANY one else?) Yeah, well today was one of those days.

Then there are the people who come along with even worse attitudes and you just want to smack them…  So after realizing I needed to be in time out, I just mostly hid in my cubicle all day.  Good decision really.

So I was trying to think of something to do to change my attitude.  I thought about praying, but I’m not in a fit state for that.  The next best thing for me is work.  Lord knows my poor house can use it!  So, I ran a load of dishes, folded a load of laundry (can’t vacuum because we need to replace the belt) so I gave up on the rest of the house and headed for my bedroom.

Yikes!  Who left all these piles of paper in here?!  No way, I would have done that!  Okay, well maybe this bag, oh yeah and that one, oh, and that one… Well hell, I guess I did make this mess.  Only one way to tackle it, like eating a grizzly.  One bite at a time.  So tonight I go through the loose papers that have no home and introduce the bulk of them to Mr. Trash Can, then I go through the bag of winter clothes I dragged out this morning in search of a sweater I don’t own.  Man, don’t we have people to do this stuff?!

The only other picture of Emily Dickinson ever found

The only other picture of Emily Dickinson ever found

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

And now for something completely familiar…

Okay, its been so long since I’ve been on that I actually (I cannot BElieve I’m admitting this) just typed the beginning of my blog into the tag section! What an idot! Anyway, I’m happy to break away from sleeping, pinning, facebooking, sleeping, working, teaching, cleaning and sleeping to blog. I’ve so missed you guys!

So, the first thing I have to share are three really incredible blogs I’ve discovered in the last several weeks. You all being the discerning individuals that you are, probably already know them, but just in case allow me.

YoonaThe first is Yoona Park’s Yoonanimous. Hysterically funny and brilliant. You know how much I love funny and smart, right? So, my intro to Yoona was this, adios iphone. I love her style of writing and her stories are so real you just want to live next door and be one of her best friends!

Elizabeth Earnshaw GringeriSo then there’s someone I used to live near (although) not next door, when she was a younger woman, so I do get to see her occasionally when she comes home to visit. Elisabeth “Bella the Blog” is a sweet smart young married woman with a great attitude towards life (and a fabulous sense of style). I particularly loved this post of hers.

vEBarnes and LaraLast but not by ANY means least there’s Victoria Elizabeth Barnes and her self titled blog, I found her via this post which is pee your pants funny and (say it with me) smart. I sent the link off to my bestie Coreena who agreed we need to become best friends with her. I was heartened to learn that she’s in Pennsylvania, not too far a driving disstance and even better her best friend is in New Hampshire (with us!).

So I am not sure how this is going to work because once again WordPress has lost it’s mind. Cross your fingers and I’ll do the same. I’ll blog again soon. (Really!)

Steam Powered Giraffe

Rabbit, Hatchworth and The Spine

Rabbit, Hatchworth and The Spine

So…  at the ripe old age of 52 I’ve decided to become a groupie…  The Muppet introduced me to Steam Powered Giraffe (SPG) and I’m totally hooked.  I really need to get out more!  So, I spent a chunk of the last few days soaking up SPG on You Tube.  They crack me up.  I can’t really categorize their music — kind of like Phoebe Snow.  Not to say they sound Anything like Phoebe Snow, but the same way I have a hard time fitting her into a category, I can’t really fit them into a category.

They are a musical pantomime troupe.  Don’t ask just go check out their videos Honeybee and Diamonds (Rihanna cover) you’ll get it.  So the “robots” in the band consist of twin brothers, David Michael Bennett who plays “The Spine,” Christopher Bennett who plays “Rabbit” and Sam Luke who plays “Hatchworth” and then there are their humans, Steve (their sound engineer), Matt Smith (drummer) and Michael Reed (who plays about a million instruments).

They are just all so funny and truly nice to their fans, which sadly is becoming more and more rare, and you really feel as though it will last through them becoming “big.”  Okay, and Irene Adler was right, “brainy is the new sexy.”   You know how I love smart AND funny.  Sigh…  So, I was watching one of their one hour You Tube videos which are generally pretty funny and Christopher had a great idea.
The backstory behind the band is that they were robots created by the Walters family way back when.  So, his idea was to build the Walter Manor.  Essentially a façade for a theater.  It opens into a large foyer with a café off to one side and a museum type room on the other side with SPG paraphernalia.   It sounded like such a great idea that if I win the lottery, I’m so going to offer them the money to build it (in exchange for permanent great seats).

So my newest music crush.

Moving… or not…

So… I’m thinking I might need to move my blog to a new home.  I can’t seem to upload my photos and have several other issues…  Do all of these blog sites do this?  Any suggestions on other blog sites?
