About snydeen

Married. Four Children. Real estate paralegal by day, romance novel and romantic comedy nerd by night.

Wow… time flies whether you’re having fun or not!

I can’t believe it’s been over 10 days since I last wrote!  Wow.  Okay, well moving in…  What’s new in Jenny’s world?  Let’s see the work thing is about the same.  I had a LOVELY Valentine’s day though.  My friend Pauline was celebrating her 50th and we went to see “Divas” at the Palace Theater.  As the company I works for is a supporter of the theater they were given free passes to the dress rehearsal.  It was amazing and I actually hope that I get a chance to go see it again before it leaves.  It’s worth paying for, undoubtedly.  Gorgeous voices on the women.

So then, I get home to find this…

Valentine's

I have the sweetest honey in the world!  Even after 26 years he’s still got it!

I hope you spent time with someone you love, whether it was mother father sister brother friend or lover.

Lincoln-movie-shot-1024x643So, I went off to see Lincoln yesterday.  I had planned on waiting for the DVD, but I’m glad I didn’t after all.  Wow.  Powerful movie.  I can see why it won awards.  I have to say though I preferred Tommy Lee Jones character over Daniel Day Lewis’ Lincoln.  Both were splendid.  I almost wish I hadn’t watched the featurette as they pointed out Sally Fields is 10 years older than Daniel Day Lewis, but Mrs. Lincoln was 10 years younger than Abe.  I kept noticing…  I have to say I was intrigued enough with the story line (fixated primarily on the passing of the 13th Amendment) that I would now like to read the book, “Team of Rivals.”

I would also like to learn more about Thaddeus Stevens.   Such is the talent of Tommy Lee Jones.

Winter 2012-2013 Bucket List

So… noticed some activity over at the old winter bucket list and thought I might come up with some ideas for this year seeing as we have our first snow fall today (although it will be gone by tomorrow).

Rewatch the entire Twilight series, reread Breaking Dawn and go see Breaking Dawn Part II

Go for a sleigh ride

Have family over for Thanksgiving

See A Christmas Carol and the Nutcracker

Print out all of the photos from my SD cards

Spend time with each of my closest friends

make at least two more recipes with Julia

Practice my drawing and painting

Read Anna Karenina and watch the old and new movies

Pick 10 words that remind me of winter and blog about them with photos

Gift wrap eaaaaarly and shop online and go crazy decorating for Christmas

Give every time I pass a Salvation Army Santa (even if it’s just a few cents),  Give to the LDS Church Humanitarian  Aid Fund and Adopt a senior (or two) for Christmas

Relax and laugh more because whether or not these are the last days, they are my last days…

finished another recommended book on my 101 list!

so I forget the number but one of my goals was to read 10 books recommended by 10 friends.  Just finished “The Hourglass Door.”  It was really fun.  I love time travel stories and having an Italian foreign exchange student who’s a protegee of Leonardo daVinci was great.  Not a deeply intellectual book by any means but really it was a lot of fun without having to navigate a lot of socio-politcal mine fields.  By the end of the day when I crawl into bed and read, I just don’t want to go there.  I am going to read the sequel.

international book week

was September 23d, and I missed it, but I’m going to join in on the fun ANYway!  I found this over at Ayestria’s blog:  http://ayestria.com/2012/09/23/grab-a-book-and-quote/

Grab a Book and Quote!

Posted by Ayesha in Blog Life, Inspiration September 23, 2012

This happened on Facebook last week.

It’s international book week. The rules: grab the closest book to you, turn to page 52, post the 5th sentence as your status on the bottom. Don’t mention the title. Copy the rules as part of your status.

This is the quote I have: “The older girl entered so fully into the spirit of her own aloof compliance that she felt beyond reproach.”

I guess it’s no longer international book week, but it was fun to see all the quotes that my friends added and to wonder what book it came from.

So, page 52, 5th sentence of the only book I have nearby …  “Insull believed that because of the ill feelings engendered among Edisonians by the mergere, and because Insull had, in the end, favored the merger, propriety prevented his profiting in any way from it.”

So come on, share!
