That’s all I have to say about how today started. I was delighted to find this in my email however from
“A little bird told me” – your Daily Truth from The Brave Girls Club www.bravegirlsclub.com
Dear Steadfast Girl,
Making progress in life, in a goal (big or small) is a tricky tricky tricky thing. It is tricky because little things happen along the way that make us feel like we really aren’t making progress at all, or maybe even that we are actually going backward. You are too important to be tricked though, lovely friend.
Beautiful, true, important things almost always take a long time to come to fruition. There are often very long stretches that are tedious, thankless, difficult and hard to measure. We get tired and that makes us weak and vulnerable to things that hurt our feelings or make us want to stop trying. There are often points in the journey when we feel absolutely alone, misunderstood and even cast out. There are sometimes points in our journey when we just want to be alone, and that is hard to explain to people we love. Making progress is not easy, is it?
With all of that in mind, however, think even more seriously about how miserable it is to stay stagnant. Think of how awful it feels to know in our hearts that we are meant for something, but to continue to ignore it, run away from it – or stay stuck just looking at it in fear. Staying in a place where we KNOW we are not meant to be is SO much more painful than the uncomfortable parts that come along with making progress.
Maybe today is the day to commit to yourself that you will take just ONE step out of the stagnation. Test it out and see how it feels. And if you are in one of those long stretches of the journey that feel like it won’t be worth it to stick with what you once knew SO FIERCELY was the right thing, just know that you are in good company, and that someday you will tell the story to someone else who is in the same place, and the story will end with you telling them that you kept going anyway, and that it made all the difference in the world, that there was beauty just around the corner that you never would have seen if you had stayed stuck in that place.
Please keep going, courageous, incredible, capable friend. It is hard, but you are up to it. You have already come so far, and you will have what you need to keep going today, and then tomorrow, and then the next day.
It will be worth it, you will see.
You are not just loved, you are treasured. You have not been forgotten. It really is going to be ok.
